Targeted treatment to aid recovery, ease muscle tightness and keep you moving well — whether you're training for something specific or just want your body to stop complaining.
If you train regularly — running, lifting, football, cycling, or anything that leaves you stiff the next day — sports massage is about keeping your body working the way you need it to. It isn't a luxury treatment. It's maintenance.
Every session starts with a conversation. What have you been training? Where does it hurt, and when? Is this a niggle that's crept in over weeks, or something that appeared overnight? That short chat shapes everything that follows, because a marathon runner with tight calves and a builder with a locked-up shoulder need very different treatment.
After the initial assessment, treatment typically combines deeper pressure work on the specific areas causing problems with broader techniques across the surrounding muscle groups. Sports massage often involves working across the muscle fibres rather than just along them, along with stretching and movement during the session.
It can be uncomfortable in places — particularly over a genuinely tight area — but it should never be something you have to grit your teeth through. Pressure gets adjusted as we go. If something is too much, say so, and it changes.
Most people leave feeling looser immediately. It's normal to feel slightly tender the following day, much like after a hard training session. Drinking plenty of water and keeping gently active helps.
It depends entirely on your training load. Someone training hard five or six times a week might benefit from a session every two to three weeks. If you're training more casually or working through a specific issue, once a month or as needed works well. Rather than sell you a package, John will give you an honest view on what your body actually needs.
Same price across all treatments — you're paying for time and expertise, not a menu. Sessions run Monday to Saturday, 9:00am–11:00pm (subject to booking), with Sundays available on request, at Cornwallis Business Centre, Howard Chase, Basildon SS14 3BB. A 24-hour cancellation policy applies.
